For more than 25 years I’ve worked in the media and communications industry, including across government and the private sector.

I commenced by career like many before me – working in regional and provincial radio in NSW. Firstly at 2BS and B-Rock FM in Bathurst where I was an announcer, music director and program director – responsible for getting the radio station sounding great.

From there I moved to Newcastle where I worked for Prime Television. This included delivering news bulletins on the local FM radio stations NXFM and KOFM, as well as the odd bit of television reporting.

In 2001, I returned to my hometown of Sydney where I took up a job on 2UE, working in the newsroom, where I was police reporter and covered the rounds of crime on the streets of Sydney. During this time I covered some of the biggest court cases Sydney had seen in a long time – high profile criminal trials, royal commissions and travelled to Bali as one of the first Australian journalists to cover the horrific Bali Bombings.

After a few years there I moved on to 2GB, which soon became Sydney’s highest rating radio station. During this time I edited news and was a senior reporting, which took me to places like the Athens Olympics.

After more than a decade in radio, it was time to take up a new challenge. Starting my first government job working in the media team at the NSW Rural Fire Service. Over 15 years I moved into senior leadership roles as a manager, group manager and Director.

For around a decade I was Director of Communications and Engagement – responsible for delivering public information and warnings during the state’s worst ever bush fires, leading the development of national warnings, and improving the level of planning and preparation in the community.

During this time I was a trustee for the RFS and Brigades Donations Fund – the charity that received more than $100 million in donations following the 2019-20 bush fires, helping to steer it to the right programs that helped volunteers and communities across the state.

Today I’m in a senior executive role within the NSW Government, as a Director of Corporate Communications in a large and high profile department. I’m also a board member of Crime Stoppers NSW, assisting with furthering the organisation’s reach in the community.
